Hall Green United 4-3 Ossett Athletic

Ossett Athletic did the Wakefield Division proud against West Riding Premier opposition. Despite rumours of Hall Green playing their 2nd string they fielded the full 1st team and they were given the fright of their lives.

Athletic took the lead in the 21st minute through Ben Ladley.The hosts replied from a long throw headed in by Clifton. But a good counter attack from Athletic resulted in a corner which they scored from (Benji Taylor).

Then things changed from a refereeing point of view as when the ball was played forward by Hall Green the ref blew for a offside just as the ball went in then changed his mined and gave the goal. Sustained pressure by Green resulted in nothing and Athletic hit them on the break once again and scored one of the goals of the season.

Another poor referee decision resulted in the equaliser when another long throw came in Prostarboy was pushed in the back by the goalscorer. Then Green wraped up the semi final place with a goal mouth scramble.

Really proud that we took another higher league side all the way like earlier in the season which is good cos we'll be playing there next season .......

Great that the div 3 sides are frightening the lives out of the opposition from the so-called higher leagues. Well done lads.

well done lads can't disagree with the write up apart from the refereeing i was directly inline with the first "offside decision" and phil was correct to change his mind clifton wasn't interfering or gaining any advantage he blew the whistle when the ball was just over the line so again no disadvantage to ossett,takes bottle to change your mind,as for the "push" me and arsen didn't see it!!!!!again well done lads.

We're so called higher teams for as a reason as most teams have battled to get where they are (Airedale excluded). You lads were there at 1 point and had a decent side but u couldnt handle it and your back where you started.

On another point unlucky Ossett

Just making a point that the top end Div 3 teams seem at the moment like they could quite easily handle playing alot higher as they are beating or pushing teams all the way from higher leagues. Every now and then a team like Airedale comes along and expect themselves to be in cup finals every season. I just think it makes a change for the bottom league to have teams capable of upsetting the odds!

Good luck to Morley in the semi final.Having played and won against Thornhill and white bear from the prem,and also lost to outwood vic on pens in one of the other cups I can honestly say that out of the 3 games the vic game was the hardest.I reckon any team could beat each other on their day in all the leagues.Although Airdale and cherry do seem to be a notch above,but who gives a fuck,there only fucking men like us except not as fat

Think the odds you are looking for are around 20/1 at bill hill at the mo, but at morley we believe we can beat them. Obviously its gonna be effing hard but if we dont think we can win, why turn up? We have beaten Snydale and Fieldhead (although Fieldhead would struggle to finish anywhere other than bottom of div 3) from prem and they dint like it when we got in their faces. We have struggled against top sides in div 3, but its one game, anything can happen! Bit of sleet and they might not like it!!
