now back to the original reason for this thread..........
those in glass houses........
Following recent allegations into ineligible players being fielded in Division 3 of the Wakefield and District Saturday League during the 2007/08 Season, the News of the World’s very own jewel in the crown of exposing corruption in the beautiful game has been asked to investigate incidences of teams being involved in a breach of the rule book.
One possible case has emerged and centres around the Division 3 League Champions, Ossett Two Brewers and the signing of Andrew ‘Tink’ Taylor from AFC Two Brewers. Although Taylor played several games for Ossett Two Brewers between January and March 2008, he was conspicuous by his absence from the Ossett Two Brewers list of eligible players as listed in the Division 3 Cup Final Programme. This seems peculiar when players such as Stephen Walton and Matthew Askin were included even though they had not played enough games to be available for selection. This provokes the thought that Ossett Two Brewers may possibly have played players under the names of Mr Walton and Mr Askin.
Further investigations have revealed a complete omission of Mr Taylor’s inclusion in Ossett Two Brewer’s results as described on their website -
http://www.webteams.co.uk/Home.aspx?team=ossetttwobrewers.
And even more concerning is the fact that when the Ossett Two Brewers Website was updated following their clash with local rivals Little Bull FC on 23 February 2008, the substitutes listed for that game were Paul Kipling and Jonathon Newsome. The two substitutes who actually appeared in the game were Paul Kipling and Andrew Taylor. The Website was subsequently updated and Jonathon Newsome’s involvement removed. Is there an attempted cover up here?
Indications so far intimate that Mr Taylor participated in at least 3 games for Ossett Two Brewers including important title/promotion battles with Little Bull and Outwood Victoria.
This also leads to concern over the transfers of players between Ossett Two Brewers and AFC Two Brewers with several moves between the two clubs during the course of the season. This situation will require close monitoring as the two clubs are scheduled to be in the same division next season.
If these allegations are proved correct, could Ossett Two Brewers be stripped of their league title and perhaps promotion? Would the double be awarded to Outwood or even the League to Ossett Athletic should Outwood be deducted points?
Our lawyers are watching
