GARFORTHThis the guy who scored a hat-rick and made Couie and Dux look silly

He returned to play for Gateshead, Ashton Utd, Bradford P.A., Garforth Town and Guiseley. He was appointed Frickley Athletic player-manager in July 2002. With Frickley he won the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup in season 2003-04.
Sharpe joined A.F.C. Emley as assistant to Paul David in September 2004, after leaving as manager of Frickley Athletic earlier that month.
He joined Bradford Park Avenue late in the 2005-06 season when manager Gary Brook was sacked but was himself replaced at by Benny Philips in March 2007.
He joined Northwich Victoria in October 2007 as assistant to Neil Redfearn.

Phil Sharpe - not a ringer, he is born and bred Garforth! Phil has been playing for Garforth Rangers since October.
There is still a lot for the youngsters of Garforth to learn and hopefully Phil will help with that, as he says he is committed to helping with the team.
Player of the season awards for division 3 - how about best youngster, say U18, and maybe Garforth might win something!!!

'Ringer' used in the loosest of terms Pete - has he got any mates you can field for the rest of the season - i.e. anyone from his frickley/bradford p.a./donny days

What the club is trying to do is bring thru the youngsters from junior football because at the moment there isnt really anywhere for them after U18. Garforth Town are only really interested in kids that have been on Simon Cliffords brazillian football courses.
The club is trying to strike a balance between local youngsters for the future and bringing more experienced players in to get results.

fair play to phil sharpe its good for the not good players to have a chance to play with good footballers, and as for people playing against him they should be happy at the chance to play against an ex-pro its a good experience.

lol - probably his timing was out, he was out til 5.30!
All the young lads at Garforth are enjoying playing in this league.
The standard of football in this league is a lot better than we thought it was going to be. (but obviously not every match - and im not going to name teams, they know who they are!)

Understand you thinking it was a dodgy cross, but believe me - Kev does not cross the ball If you had seen the one he got against Ossett Athletic, it was almost identical.

Just though I'd set the record straight Pete, Phil actually signed before the season started and took pre-season training before getting the call from Neil Redfearn at Northwich. It's true though that he did not actually play until the AFC Wakefield debacle.
So much for having an experienced guy to help calm the kids eh?

Garforth Rangers AFC : 3
Ossett Two Brewers : 5
02/02/08 W&DFA League Div 3
The home side were left still without a win against top 5 opposition and in truth it never really looked like they could get 3 points from this match against the current leaders. Possibly giving the opposition too much respect, Rangers didn't seem to have the bite in midfield that was required to get a grip on this game.
Though the visitors scored first, Rangers levelled quickly and showed they at least had the capability to score against the visitors previously mean defence.
Going in 2-1 down at the break, Garforth knew they had to score next to get back into the game, but Ossett went 3-1 up and it seemed they had sealed the win.
Defensice shape was sacrificed in the search to get back into the game and Ossett capitalised with breakaway efforts that were well finished though they put a distorted slant on the scoreline.
With substitutions giving the home side greater width they began to expose hitherto undiscovered defensive frailities in the visitors defence and with Phil Sharpe netting a hat trick the scoreline at least reflected the match and left the Ossett side feeling that they had been tested.
Overall it was a better game than the conditions might have allowed on another day and without a dubious penalty award and a missed over the line call the result could have been 3-3. It wasn't and good luck to Ossett who did enough earlier in the game to weather the Garforth fightback and had the players to catch the home side on the break when they were stretched.
We look forward to the return.

They scored from a corner that never was, and the dodgy pen, was a stonewaller.

garforth were a banana skin of a tie since we have managed just one game in december and one in jan. so fitness told esp in last 20 mins, also sharpness with passing and positioning. this as we know comes with playing games.
big guy up front was very good and with his pacey sidekick it made it a tough game for the defence. look forward to playing with a few games under our belt. garforth were unlucky with a few things but the pen was a def. as the guy raised his hand to block the ball.
game was a fair one and we (brewers) just about nicked it in the end. but with a little more fortune garforth could have beaten us!
