Alverthorpe 4 Cross Keys 0Not a bad game to be fair.....conditions were bloody freezing.....Keys started brightly but as soon as we scored, one or two heads dropped.
I'm sure Andy and the Keys lads would agree, it was one way traffic in the second half.........Mr Admin helped us along the way with a penalty (nice one) however he got his own back with an attemped SNAP on me on the halfway line (not with his chicken legs!!!  )
Good set of lads.....No.10 up front was creative and skillful, no.6 in midfield worked tirelessly but was too easy wound up and their keeper made some bloody wonder saves!!!
See you in a couple of weeks.......dirdy cants.
Ref's MOM was old lad 'The Cunnaneminator' whilst 'Battersby' was Fish Butty Starters love child for the evening.
Jack Lumb was a legend throughout the game......I know he's Razor's favourite ref!!!!!

Morning lads
I have just wrote a good long reply to this thread and pressed the wrong button and lost the whole bloody thing lol.
Basically as kev has said first half we looked like we had a chance of grabbing something. We had a good few chances and their defence looked a tad shaky and considering they had bash and craig there thats quite suprising.
The first goal really came at a time when we had had the better of the play. It was from a decent cross that was just tipped over our defenders head by the keeper only to drop onto the thorpe wingers head. To say we were gutted was an understatment.
We kept pressing for an equalizer and still had a few chances but thorpe started to play decent football and made a lot of quality chances. We managed to keep the scoreline respectable and went in 1-0 at half time.
Second half kicking into the wind we couldnt get out of our own half. The ball just wouldnt stick and that resulted in one of the most one sided halves of football i have played. Chance after chance came thorpes way, hitting the bar, having it saved on the line and some last ditch tackles just as they were about to pull the trigger.
The thorpe onslaught continued and it wasnt long before a deceng amount of pressure resulted in me (yes me) giving a sloppy pen away by misjudging a last ditch tackle as the thorpe player was about to shoot but luckily it was saved by our keeper.
Thorpe never relaxed and it was made clear to me that they felt they needed more goals to improve their goal difference.
Credit to thorpe who played well. We came to have ago despite missig our two top scoring strikers, one of which came in second half but is injured. Even with a full strength side we probably would have struggled which is why we are 4th/5th and thorpe are 1st.
I will say though having played in this league for a good few years now we have played against all the sides that have been promoted and some were miles better than you on the day. For you to do well next year you need to be more clinical and defend better especially after your first half performance.
We still have you at our place and again i think we will be going all out to win and finish the season with a bang but even if we did get anything from that game i think you will be champions anyways.

Oh nice snap and sorry not everyone came back, a lot had to get off. Oh and adie apologies for our lads not getting that ball, I had a go but they were sulking cause they were on the bench.
Did you find the other ball that pols kicked over that fence ? i think he was just knackered and needed a rest but was out of order kicking it that far.

I think for any team to improve at a higher standard, you always have to recruit a few extra players.........currently doing that so the first team is stronger next season.
Its a win, win situation as the second team will get all the old lads and fat lads from the firsts..........!!!!!!!!!!!! ........I just hope the second teams kit is bigger than the firsts!!!!
I thought some of our ONE TOUCH stuff, especially in the second half, was really good.........perhaps we weren't our best on the day......but as always.......we grind out the result and we haven't conceded.
I'm sure it will be a tough game in sunny Snydale...........!

It was a decent game we wasn't at our best 1st half and to be fair to Keys they came to give us a game and they battled hard!! We deserved to win and played some good stuff in the 2nd half Battersby missing a pen and the keeper made some good saves!!
Andy had a decent game and made some good tackles was a good battle although I feel I shaded the battle setting up the 1st goal but was dissapointed not to get on the score sheet!!! 
Should be a good game in 2 weeks when we play you it will be for us to be crowned champions so its a big game looking forward to another battle Andy see you then mate!!

You know dan. Even though i knew your name from being on ere i never realised you was the same dan that came to bingley with leech a good few years ago when pot oil folded. It was only when i saw your face that i put two and two together.
As for the battle i enjoyed it. Was glad to keep you off the score sheet but credit to you for the cross. I sold myself that bit to early and you took advantage.
Hopefully i will be playing in the next game but we had a few players missing so the gaffer might rotate to give others a game.
